Abiword in Win7 - how to change default page?

Hi, I´m having trouble setting the default page of Abiword in Windows 7. I tried making changes to normal.awt, but new pages I open don´t save the changes. Is there some plugin or something, so that I could just click a button like "set as default" ¿ Thanks

Here is the Manual for Abiword

Here is the Help Page also.

I don't run Windows so can't be of much help there.

Hmmmm. Linux Forums, Windows question. What's wrong with this picture? Anyway, we are an accomodating bunch here, so check this page on changing AbiWord default styles, etc.

Thanks for those links, but I think I already tried to follow the steps suggested, without success - I couldn't get the default page changed - maybe I didn't follow the steps correctly...?

I was just looking around for a word processing program that would be free, easy to use and have plenty of options, like word wrapping images in a text document etc.
    Thanks,

Reading that, it sounds like OpenOffice might be a good candidate for you.

Regarding the default page for AbiWord, it can be a little tricky if you don't follow the instructions precisely.

Actually I tried Oo and changing the dafault page was relatively easy - there are a few *clear steps to follow, so that was ok. *but when it came to word wrapping an image, I couldn't figure it out; maybe I needed a plug-in or something - I did see various word-wrap options, but they were greyed out - maybe there's some solution I'm not aware....
Re. Abiword, I did alter the normal.awt page, but new documents still opened without the new changes. I changed all the "normal" templates I could find - but nothing I tried seemed to work - though maybe I did overlook something. Thanks, I appreciate the replies.

In Open Office, when you add a picture you can right click on it and use the wrap menu.

Ok, I re-installed Oo to try some word wrapping of text and discovered (with some Googling), that I had to anchor the image to page to get the wrapping to work.Though I still have an issue: A few lines of text describing the photo gets covered up by the image when I drag the image on top of that text, but the rest of the text wraps correctly. I also tried the same text and photo in Office 2007, and everything wraps correctly. Any ideas why Oo doesn't wrap those few lines describing the photo around the image? Thanks.

ah...I see that those lines describing the photo are actually inside a box, which you can also right-click, as if it were a photo...mmm...though it does get wrapped in office 2007. Maybe there's some way of getting it to wrap in Oo? I discovered some other very nice things in Oo, which I didn't expect, like tracking changes while editing or correcting text. I'm impressed!
