    Hiya!

Before I start pestering the more knowledgeable people around here with questions they've answered until their fingers bled, it seems like a good idea to let you know whom they're dealing with: another Linux n00b.

After having used only Windows since ... well, forever (3.1 is the oldest Windows I remember using), I decided to give Linux a try in late 2009. At first I was overwhelmed and even quite intimidated by the sheer number of different distros (and I actually still am), so I decided to start out with Ubuntu since it seemed the easiest one to get used to. And I must say that I really, really like Ubuntu. Much to my shame I have to admit that I didn't really learn much about the "under the hood" workings of Linux since I'm pretty much just a plain user.

This is something I decided to change, which is the reason why I'm here. So, please, bear with me. I'm willing to learn, but sometimes a bit thick when I need to wrap my head around new concepts. Old dogs and new tricks, you know.

    Cheers!

I'm one of the newbies here. So be prepared for my questions. How do you post a new thread?
