I'm running Gentoo on an old 450MHz PII Dell. When I first installed the OS it had 256MB of RAM. I increased that to 384MB some time later. Nice thing about Gentoo is that it builds/installs from source so you can configure it with just the hardware support you really need. No unnecessary cruft.
