I read an article today that hit me like a ton of bricks dropped from a crane!!!
One of the most painful things an old man like me has to endure is hearing
about or watching young people throw their lives away!!!

Sometimes Luck over rides Natural Selection.
Above article seems to point towards Natural Selection.
On a lighter note. Natural selection makes it so some make it to become the Modern Man.
I fall into the same catagory,I was Lucky!!!!

I see it everyday, even in our small town. We just sent a 20 yr old off to prison for 3 DWI's, #2 and #3 while he was still on probaion for the first one. Somehow, they think the rules don't apply to them.

Ah! Remembrances of freeclimbing sea cliffs in Mexico in my 20's. I was very lucky not to go splat on the rocks a hundred feet below!

Well, if you want to do things like that, that's fine; you're endangering no-one but yourself. Careering about dead drunk in a car and endangering the public is a very different thing. That isn't foolish, it's criminally irresponsible. People like that, if they survive, desrerve to be banged up for a long time.

Unfortunately Hazel, the laws dealing with drunk driving differ greatly depending on where the " crime " occurred!! Here in New York the punishments are way too lenient to deter anyone from not driving drunk.

Burke, James Lee. 2009. Rain Gods. New York: Simon & Schuster. ISBN 978-1-4391-2824-4. 434pp.
“Nazis were not idealogues. They were bullies and sackers of civilization. Their logos and ethos were that simple. Hackberry felt that he had lived into a time when gangbangers who sold crack to their own people and did drive-bys with automatic weapons were treated as cultural icons. Concurrently, outlaw white bikers muled crystal meth into every city in the United States. When they went down, it was only because they were murdered by their own kind. They were like creatures that had been incarnated from a Mad Max script. And like any form of cognitive dissonance in a society, they existed because they were given sanction and even lionized.” (p. 401)
Like the article cousinlucky's link goes to says, "You be the judge."
