Also, this thread is all about Linux Mint, which is making big waves these days. Keep in mind, if you want to try the latest and greatest distro's (version) you need at least 512 MB RAM and a decent Video card.

Welcome to the forum. Linux is all about choice, and if you go to distrowatch.com, you can see the top 100 linux distributions. The search function can help you zero in on one that suits you. If the top 100 don't appeal to you, they have a lot more at the site. Have fun.

Now that you are just moving from Windows, I would suggest to have a good look at Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
