So when the girl asks "Did you bring some protection?"
The guy answers "Yes, I've got my laptop."

If I continue using my laptop like this, I might end up with just a lap and nothing on top.

I actually stopped using laptops straight on my lap when I purchased my MacBook Pro 1st gen. Those puppies got ridiculously hot. I mean boiling sear-your-skin-off hot. Apple of course denied it.

The upside to that was that I invested and got used to using lap desks for all my laptops since. Now there's always a barrier between that cooling fan and the Netherlands.

The article does claim that lapdesks have no effect, though I use one too mostly for the mouse surface

However when I use a lap desk I cross my legs underneath, thus changing the position from what they describe. They say in the second page of the article that leg position is the major factor.

So essentially what they're saying is it has nothing at all to do with laptops, but rather leg position. Given, laptops popularized the position, but it's kind of a sensationalist title nonetheless.

My tiny netbook deosn't have much of a problem with heat except maybe when it's on a bed (where the blankets contort and block the air ports), and even then it hasn't come close to the heats any other laptops I mess with reach.

And hey, at least they're not exploding anymore.

    The laptops, right? RIGHT?

My boys are always well ventilated and I never sit with our Laptop, in my lap.
