    Hazel, if you just left it alone, you would have only had 665! Of course, postings in "The Coffee Lounge" don't count...

    So, I gotta ask the authors of Revelation, what IS this with the number 665+1? Why pick that one? Why not 1024? 2048? 999? Argh! Makes no sense to me!

    Without getting into theology or violating the rules of the forum, I hope, 666 is the number of years from the initial fall of Israel to ghe Babylonians until the final destruction by the Romans. The book of Daniel when he explains the kings dream of the man with a head of gold, etc down to feet of iron and clay is the key. Hope that helps.

    Ah! That helps explain things. I was raised an agnostic and went to a Unitarian church as a youth - our minister was an atheist... We really didn't get into the details of this stuff.

    But is 666 the number of the beast? There are sources that indicate it is actually 616 (OK; this is Wikipedia but it references Oxford university!
