Just for a record I'm huge Fedora fan but i just try Linuxmint 10 and I love it.
It is great distro,specially for beginners.
It is everything set up from mp3 codes to sun java software.
Only what you need to do is read manual guide,download liveDVD or liveCD,burn it and install it
Please if you need to start with linux try linuxmint 10.

Welcome to the forum, and you're right, Mint is great. I especially like the LXDE edition.

I've still never gotten around to installing any release of Mint Linux but definitely plan to do so... someday.
