    Greetings from a newbie

Greetings. I have been using Linux for 11 years or so, and have just embarked on a project fraught with danger. I am going to start living dangerously by converting my trusty Windows XP laptop into a dual-boot XP/Ubuntu machine, and then compound the danger by using Ubuntu as the host for building Linux From Scratch on the same machine. Wish me luck, and expect to see me here often!

Welcome to the forum. I made the switch a couple of years ago, and have never regretted it.

Pecos! I spent a night in Pecos about 35 years ago. Couldn't figure out why it exists. ) The "fraught with danger" derives from the fact that this is my primary work machine, and if I screw something up with the Windows partition I may have a little explaining to do. But doing this will also make it a bit smoother to support our one Linux customer.
