Hi
Im a computer science major at CSU Chico. Im new to linux since Ive been a fan of Windows 7. I hope I can seek some help to solve some problems that I have on working with a linux server that runs a website.

Also quick question, Im looking at the forum page and under Your Distro there flavors of Linux, how do I figure out where to post since Im unsure what Linux flavor I have. How do I find out. I have access to the Linux server only through putty.

You can login to Linux and enter some of the commands below
Code:cat /etc/*-release
Code:cat /etc/issue
One of those should show you which distribution you are running and its version number.Code:lsb_release -a
