Is it possible to run an anti malware like Norman Malware Cleaner off of a flash drive to take it off her computer?

if you had a flash drive with some linux on it that has clamav, you could at least run that on her machine
if there are bad programs i'm not sure if you can clean registry or not

Here are some steps to stop the malware from infecting a windows system.
1. Create individual user accounts and make sure they do not have admin rights. Only time you should require admin rights is to install software. This is how malware operates it uses the users permissions to install itself.
2. Install SpyBot and run it on the whole system. Then run the TeaTimer to protect the system's registry form being changed. Goto the tutorial page to see what all can be done. It is free
3. Install ClamWin as a virus checker. It is free
With the above the wife's computer hasn't had a virus in 8 years.
