    Linux.org Website

Does anyone know who manages the linux.org website? I am trying to take one of the classes that are on the site, but it spends more time down than up. Often times it is down for a week or two at a time. I would at least love to get the classes on any format so I don't have to count on the site being up. Otherwise, I may have to print each and every page if/when the site ever comes up again.

There is no Linux.org, unless you mean linux.org.uk which is Allan Cox's website.

    Funny!
If I put linux.org.uk in the Firefox browser it says server not found.

I have to add a www. to the front of that address to view the site.
    Linux.org.uk: Index

Where I work at we have a support site that is just the opposite.
Add www. to the address and you get a page not found error.

I can't remember the last time I had to add the www. extension in Firefox.
It usually resolves the address with no errors.

That is strange, I wonder what determines whether the address gets resolved or not. I can't remember the last time I had to type the www part either.

That's my point. About 50% of the time there IS a linux.org website which is very different than the .uk site. The other 50% of the time it is down. When up, the site has some good tutorials for beginner, intermediate and advanced users. They are very old, but still pretty useful and I have learned a ton from them.

Aaaha. Great stuff. Thanks for your sleuthing. Maybe I can get in touch with him through this info although it may be as ancient as his site. Somewhat a shame for the Linux community that he owns such a key domain yet manages it so poorly.

Yes, a real shame. It would be nice to see it updated and online even!
Do let us know how it goes.

I am sorry but not surprised to report that after several days, I received a bounce back message from my email to the above address stating "The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect."

    Thanks for your help nonetheless.

Well dang! What a real loss. That website will be up until "Expiration Date:11-May-2013 04:00:00 UTC" Who knows what could happen between now and then!?!
