I worked with Modbus protocols a LONG time ago, but with QNX, back in the late 1980's and early 90's. Nothing recently. My last automation work with Linux was to integrate an ARM PC-104 board with AB PLC's to control conveyors in a warehouse/distribution environment last year.

Sounds like you did some interesting work with AB Plc and ARM 104. How did that project go ?

Quite well. We were able to increase performance and scalability while significantly reducing costs for warehouses that need to expand/contract depending upon traffic. The ARM/PC-104 board(s) get changes in routing information from a central database via TCP/IP and adjust their settings for which gate to open/close to route a particular order/tote to the appropriate next destination.
