    Smile Newbie Linux User...

    Hi

My name is Darleen. I currently am in the Network & Database Administrator program. I just started the Linux course a week ago & I like working with the command line utility! I think it's fun!

I'm glad I found a Linux forum so I can learn a lot about it. I'm only in the Linux course for three weeks, so I hope I can get lots of tips in that time before I take the exam!

Just remember, before you ask the question that 10,000 others have asked, use the search bar, and remember that Google is your friend! There is a lot of help here. Ask, when you can't find the answer on your own. We'll do our best to help you!

Google doesn't always come through. I tried it repeatedly for several days, trying to find the solution to sudden stoppage of YouTube with Iceweasel. Nada. A quick visit to the Debian Forums and I found the fix. Using the search function on the forum, I found it in a couple of minutes. You do have to know what terms to put into the search box, and that can be hard. What amazed me was that I used the identical words on Google and the Debian forum, with very different results. Google gave me zip, Debian gave me a hit. Go figure.

Well, it takes time for Google to update their indexes. For some things it may take some time to find and index new data. That said, even G isn't flawless... So, sometimes it pays to go closer to the source of the information you are looking for.
