Hey everyone, I'm Jireh, or just Gizmo/Giz. I've been into linux for a while but haven't really gotten deep into it yet. I run a MacBook Pro with i5 core, with Ubuntu 10.10(gnome) on VMware Fusion as my virtual machine.
I'm a big FPS gamer on ps3. If you have ps3 and want to play online with me just add my psn: gizmonizmo. My clan is CRR - canadianriflesregiment.com(if you're interested in joining a clan, this one is awsome).
In my spare time I like reading books, play guitar, taking photos with my Nikon DSLR D40, play video games, surf the net, facebook, etc..
I have a beagle named Brody, and a calico cat named Calamari. I love animals.
Computers is where my life is though, I spend at least 60 percent of my day on my laptop.
If you wanna chat just PM.
Peace.

Thanks guys. About puppy linux, how would I put that on a live USB to run on my mac? It would come in handy when I need to boot up quickly.

For a mac, you might want to try macpup linux. Go to distrowatch.com and download the linux vesion you want. Burn the ISO image to disk, not copy. Set computer to boot from CD/DVD drive as first boot device. Put ISO image in drive and start computer, it should boot into the live image. You will be asked to try without installing, install, or do memtest. Try it first, and make sure all your equipment works, then if you like it, there will be an install icon on your desktop. Have fun, try several linux distro's and see which desktop, KDE or Gnome or other, that you like, and which distro.

thanks for the welcome
@vtel57 thanks
@MASONTX is it better to test it out in a virtual machine or boot up with the live cd? Or does it even matter?

Welcome to the forums!
Ubuntu was my first Linux back in it's Gutsy Gibbon days. I learned a lot from Ubuntu and it's massive community, I hope you do too

I have no experience with virtual machines, so cannot say as to whether that is better than a live cd. I have always used live cd's, and had no problems.
