    Hello, and welcome to Linux-Forums!

No doubt you can study by your self and on your own time. I'm currently studying for my LPIC and I'm making good progress, considering that I work a full time job. Here are a few things I've been doing to study:

    1) Install Linux! In fact, install a few different flavors (Debian, Fedora, Arch) and learn what makes them unique. I highly recommend you install Arch Linux, following the beginners guide on their website. You'll learn a lot from just that.

    2) Get your hands dirty in the command line! The shell is a playground. Investigate the file system, explore the far corners of your shell. Write BASH scripts to perform automated computing. Read the man page of each command you encounter. Make sure you know all the commands in /bin and /sbin in-and-out.

    3) Install all those great, open-source daemon packages. Apache, PostFix, SSHD and others.

    4) Immerse your self in the Linux community. Join some IRC channels, newsgroups and news letters. Most importantly, hang-out here! Try to help others solve their issues and check out some of the common problems that pop up here.

These are my 4 tips of the day. I wish you luck with your studies. And remember, the most important thing is to have fun.

    See you around.

For a Red Hat certification, I'd use either CentOS or more likely (as it has got V6 out) Scientific Linux. Other than that, the tips above are pretty good. It may also be worth having a look at the Red Hat site to see if they have any practice exams available.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

You can check this page at the Red Hat website for more info that might come in handy for becoming RHCE certified.

    Hi,

Fedora/CentOS/Scientific Linux + an e-book of Linux is the first thing I would suggest. Other than that, the second post states a few points very well.

    Regards
