This is why I don't like using repos. It means I have to depend on the repos software administrators keeping it upto date in order for me to get software.

What I like to do is going to the developers website, downloading the source tarball and compiling/installing from there.

Nah, I am just executing the .sh file. It installs successfully, but not in the location we agreed on.

Initially I went to the developer website and got the source. I attempted to compile it and there was an error, which said I was missing a library. I searched for the library on google.com, but the search engine returned nothing of relevance.
The developer is an arrogant moron. He should have pointed where to get it from in the error message. I have e-mailed him for assistance.

Although that program (which) does not show all the files for installed applications, it does look like a program that will be very useful for me using Linux! Thanks man!

What I like to do is going to the developers website and simply downloading it directly and installing from there.

So what's the difference between waiting for the developers to update it (Linux) and waiting for Microsoft or whoever to update? You seem to be calling for Linux to do the impossible while extolling the virtues of MS (trolling). If you don't want to use the package managers or repos then you shouldn't complain when things don't go your way
And calling a developer a moron is not funny, I don't see you writing any code or offering to make things better.
