For those new to Scientific Linux, it is created with/based on the sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Why announcing it here?
To help launch a new forum and because SL might be unknown to many

Generally speaking, announcements are welcome here as long as they aren't too spammy in nature, and they don't become abusive with repetitive bumps, redirects, or duplicate postings.
I'm not certain, but do believe that Scientific is going to continue to grow greatly in popularity. Good luck with the new forum!

Boy! I loved SL when I used it first. Darn stable and responsive.
And I always suggest any RedHat Linux beginner/practitioner to start with a Scientific Linux VM and an ebook.
Good luck and regards.
