Go to distrowatch.com and do a search for distro's based on red hat, since you are working on rhel cert. It will bring up 10. Select one or more to try and give it a shot.

If you're going for the Rh courses, might I suggest CentOS?
It's a clone of RHEL, with the Red Hat branding removed.

If fedora and centos are too hard, you are kind of out of luck on red hat based distros. If you just want to get experience with something else, try antiX, LegacyOS, Puppy or Imagineos.

If you are used to Ubuntu, then Debian might be a bit more familiar or Let's Make Debian Easy (which is more properly known as Linux Mint Debian Edition)

If you are looking to get used to Red Hat for a specific goal, then CentOS or Scientific Linux are your best bet. Scientific Linux have already released their version of RHEL 6 and that is a completely different beast to RHEL 5.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

OpenSuse & Fedora are both great starting points. You can always keep looking after you have tried one or two.
