    Bootable USB

    Hi all,

I have ubuntu 10.10 running and i want to make a usb bootable disk with Windows7.

I have the .iso file of the Win7 OS, I tried the following methods but nothing worked.

    * Mounting the iso file and using dd to copy

    * Mounting the iso file and using cp to copy then installing the ms-sys on it.

    * Unetbootin - But for some reason it is not at all detecting my usb device

What can i do now? I saw there is image writer to usb inbuilt with my ubuntu but it accepts oly .img file, i have .iso file..

So is it possible to convert .iso to .img and try that piece of image writer software?
But i would prefer if there is a direct way to convert this .iso to bootable usb..

Please help me with this, it spoiled my whole nights sleep...

    Thanks in advance!!!

Hi and welcome to the Linux Forums!
This question is kind of outside the realm of this forum considering it is a Linux Forum.
    That said,
Here are some links that will help you create a bootable Windows flash drive or DVD.

How To Create Bootable Windows 7, Vista, or XP USB Flash/Pen Drive Quickly

How To Install Windows 7 On USB Flash Drive

    Another good place to check out are the forums here;
The CD Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board)

I used to frequent that forum a lot when I used to make my own bootable Windows Cd's.
Now I make multi-boot Linux OS disks that can contain up to 20 Linux OS's on one DVD.
