I've had two dogs of my own, and fostered a couple for friends. First one was Mitzi, a miniature Spaniel. She was my pal from the time I was 1 to 14. We had to give her up when we went to England for a year (they had a 1 year quarantine on foreign pets at the time)... sigh! When we returned from across the pond we got a Labrador, Chula. Bred and raised in the Rockies, she was too smart for my own good! She'd break out of my fenced yard and go visiting friends all over Denver, showing back up when she was ready for a few days down time. I got a call one day from friends about 20 miles away saying that Chula stopped by, ate some food, visited for awhile, and then left again. She showed up at home the next day, wagging her tail! Interestingly enough, she had only been to their house once, by car!
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

My parents have two dogs, and we've had a total of three. Our first is Frazier, who is a Wheaten Terrier, and currently 15 years old, which is very old, but he's still doing well (though he sleeps a lot). When he was five or so, we got a second Wheaten Terrier named Ellie, who died at the age of 8, which was very sad (it was my first dog death). About a year ago, we got a new dog, named Reggie, who is a Havanese, and basically looks like a smaller version of a Wheaten Terrier.
All of our dogs are very sweet. One thing that they do that our friends find funny is that we have trained them to ring a bell when they need to go outside. So every now and then, you'll hear a ringing, and we can let them out. Frazier and Ellie could go outside on their own, but Reggie is small (and not trained to our invisible fence since he's still just a puppy), so he needs to be looked after constantly, which is, admittedly, a bit annoying

I have one mixed breed (but she looks like a red fox) named Pooh Bear that strayed into our yard as a small puppy almost 7 years ago. In fact, she had her 7th birthday just yesterday. She and I have become inseparable so I can't even imagine life without her.
Right... dogs are super sharp at picking up on facial expressions, body language, discreet sounds throughout the house, etc.oz
