I've been there last summer to visit LA and the surrounding area... Ventura is a beautiful town expecially for the suggestive seaside views... maybe not the best for entertainment and nightlife... which city of Texas are you from?

I'm from a town so small we don't even have a stop light, Mason Tx. Population in town about 2,000, with another 1000 living in the county. Rolling hill country and lots of deer and wildlife, but not much else.

Wow! You are from the heart of Texas, it seems to be unchanged from the ancient far west (seen by google's street view) O.O
Not far from Austin, SRV homeland, ah?
Love it!

If you take Google views to the south side of the square, across the street from the courthouse, the brown stone building is the jail. It is the second oldest still operating jail in Tx, and can house 5 prisoners. On the NE corner of the square where the right turn lane is, is where there used to be an oak tree that was used for hangings back in frontier days. S of the square about 1/2 mile, on the hill, is the officers quarters for Ft Mason, a frontier fort built before the civil war to quard settlers from indians. W of the square in the curve of the road about 3/4 of a mile, is the site of Worley's well, where an incident between two cowboy factions started the Hoodoo range war.

O.O oh my god! Really thank you for this description... I'm very interested in history and what you wrote is simply awesome! Hope to be there sooner or later!
My country is Battipaglia (on wikipedia.en there are only 5 rows of description, many more on wikipedia.it), its history is quite recent, it began in the middle of the 19th century (less before Italy was born as united kingdom). Our castle (you can see the photo on wikipedia), symbol of the city, instead is more ancient, built in the Middle Ages by Normans, but Battipaglia, as city, didn't already exist... castle apart we don't have many cultural goods, but in the surrounding area, Salerno and Napoli, there is a lot to know and see!
