I need some help from some LF members, please!

I recently transferred my domain; cousinlucky.com and forwarded the URL to my website. I keep saying to the new registrar that all I get is the error message cousinlucky.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

They keep telling me that it is working fine. Would some of you mind checking on your computers to see if the domain is working or not? Thanks!

    Hi cousinlucky,

I tried the link you provided and it redirected me to your paynal.com web page.

    Seems to be working fine.
It's possible your ISP's DNS servers haven't caught up with the change.

Your on dial up aren't you?
I'm wondering if your pc is caching the old dns info?

Anyway... to answer your request. Yes. It's working.

Thanks Gentlemen!! This is real weird. Jonathan there isn't a /etc/hosts folder in my computer.

They just asked me for my IP address but I do not know how to go about finding out what it is!

I switched to my suse 10 os where I was finally able to get it using mozilla. It timed out using both firefox and konqueror browsers. I've never encountered anything that slow.

I got on your page ok via your email link. Sent you a reply and signed guest book also. Look for ip in maybe /etc/resolv.conf text file. Open it with gedit or whatever text editor you use.

Thanks Roky!! I've never seen anything so slow as this that it times out most of the time.

It's OK here too Lucky. Sometimes it takes a few days for all the DNS servers to catch up with a change.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

/etc/hosts should be a file rather than a folder, and should contain localhost information as well as allowing you to block sites by adding entries ... remember this thread.

/etc/resolv.conf will show nameserver information. I'm not sure how you are connecting to the net but you can get IP address and check how well your firewall is holding up at shieldsup . Things like ifconfig will report local IP information if you connect via a router.
