    Arrow Forum Pet Peeves?

Does anyone else hate it when people ask questions, get an answer, then either:

    A. Don't reply back to say if it worked or not (most likely it did then)

    B. Reply back to say thanks, but don't change it to [SOLVED]

    C. Or just don't change it to [SOLVED] with no reply.

I hate this, because I'll be searching around for an answer to a problem, and not even clck that thread because (I would imagine, since not labeled) it's not SOLVED.

Or Ill go into some threads that aren't solved, only to find multiple solutions to a problem and everyone in there is saying, Thanks! Worked Great!! But the OP hasn't marked it SOLVED

haha, now THAT really grinds my gears...

Anyone else have any Forum Pet Peeves???

    D. People who just say "never mind. I found the solution" and mark the thread as [SOLVED], without telling what the solution was.

Really annoying when you have the same problem...

"never mind. I found the solution" and mark the thread as [SOLVED],

    Yeah. Gets my Goat!

Not really a forum peeve but the amount of sites that scrape content and then appear in the first page of Google results in annoying. You Google your problem, see the results and think excellent, one of these must have the answer but they are all the same post which hasn't been answered.

    Frustrating!

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

My pet LF peeve is that I do not know anything much about computers; so I'm
pretty much useless to solve anyone's problems!! However, I can once again
say many Thank You's for the great advice I have received here over the years!!

My personal worst peeves (on any forum) are:

    1. l33t, LOLspeak, or any other lack of spelling/grammar.

    2. true noobs who think they know it all (not new members with previous experience).

    3. People who revive ancient threads for no reason other than "i know how u feel duuude" or "this thread is LAME".

    4. Morons who never read the first post's question and jump to conclusions or offer advice that does not solve the question being asked.

    5. people who ask questions but forget to leave enough context to actually allow one to answer the question

    6. bumping threads just by saying "bump" or the like.

    My forum pet peaves:
    • Spelling and Grammar - Mobile phones have a lot to do with this. Mine autocorrects wrongly constantly
    • Too many ads (mostly popups). Since the owners won't implement Tapatalk, browsing on my phone is a hassle because of popups and the slow loading ads.
    • When you help someone, they do not follow all the steps you told them to do. This annoys me to no end and I usually just stop helping right there.
    • Premature closing of threads. Sometimes I would like to follow up with a different solution, and there is really no reason to start another thread for that purpose.
    • People who come in and ask "Which Distro". The internet has been around long enough, and you should know you will get told to search for it. Do some research on your own please.

This isn't all of them, but it is the ones that annoy me most.

What about people who don't like 133t or LOLSpeak, but who then turn around and, (ironically) use the word "noobs" instead of "newbies" in the VERY NEXT SENTENCE?!?

You obviously aren't aware that a lot of people use "noob" in a rather specialised sense which is not synonymous with "newbie". A newbie is a novice who knows very little about Linux but is usually willing to learn. One should always be patient with these people. After all, we were all newbies once.

A noob is the kind of person who writes posts like "NOOB NEEDS HELP!!!". They call themselves noobs. They write as if they were texting on their mobiles and then whine about how difficult Linux is when you try to help them. Enough said!
