    Hello! Back to Linux!

Just wanted to say hello from Chile and say it's nice to be back using Linux again. I was on Suse 9.2 until a about 3-4 years ago, (before that on Mac for many years) passed through damned MS and now back 2 months ago for Opensuse 11.4 on KDE 4.6 and LOVING it!

Do I miss anything? Well, maybe just apps like Photoshop and MediaMonkey for audio, but getting the hang of Gimp. (Still not too sure about the audio apps for Linux yet).

    Cheers!

    Welcome back!

For audio, you might want to take a look at either Rhythmbox or, for something more lightweight, xmms2.

Both should be in your repos.

There are tonnes of audio and video tools these days for Linux, some of which are pretty much in the serious amateur or professional class, if you are into audio and/or video production. For playback, there are any number of good ones. My favorite audio player/streamer is VLC. For video I used to like Kaffeine, but it has degraded in capability when it made the switch to KDE 4.x. I still use it, but I find that VLC is more capable, especially when dealing with weird video formats, or adjusting things like aspect ratio and handling subtitles.

    Anyway, enjoy the voyage!
