    How is the Silk Road website possible?

    The New York media is all bent out of shape over the " Silk Road " website that reportedly sells things that are illegal. ( I have no interest in buy anything illegal. )

    I'm just wondering how anyone can set up a " secret website " like that!!

    I've never hear of the 'Silk Road'. But the so-called 'black market' has been around far longer than the internet. Or computers.

    That's right. I don't think it is the website itself that is illegal. I haven't seen it, but I would think all it does is put buyers in touch with sellers, while protecting their identities -- same as all other trade websites.

    What I want to know is, how does anyone come to trust a website enough that they would risk using it as a tool to help them do something illegal. It must be a very tight-knit community.

    They probably think they're safe from detection because they're using tor and bitcoins. But I understand that the police can still track you even if you use tor.

    Well, if the web data can get to you, it can be tracked. If you were truly anonymous nothing online would work! All you can do is make it as difficult as possible
