Is anyone besides me excited about the new release of Duke Nukem?
Duke Nukem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I still play Duke Nukem 3d all the time and have been wishing for this new release for quiet awhile now. I have pre-order and paid for mine but it isn't coming available until June 14th.
I bought the PC version and it looks like I might have to try it in a Virtual Box first because my wife is not going to let me use her machine long enough to play a gaming session. If that fails then I guess I'll just partition out some free space and smear Windows XP all over it.

I'd buy it if there was a Linux version but I'm not getting a Windows licence for it and neither am I going to buy an xbox / ps3 just to play it.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

The old version runs natively on Linux but I highly doubt this one will.

Love playing Duke Nukem. I started with the original shareware 1and 2 then the 3D version.
I have to say I haven't played in a long time. Great game.

It's in the Gentoo Repos if you ever want to play it again. If you need the Data pack, I know where to get that too.

I've been playing this over the weekend, and what a blast! I've been reading the review at arstechnica where they panned the game, and I agree with some of their points, particularly about the linearity of the game, the lack of breadth and freedom in what you can do. But it's been real fun to play, fun to wade through plenty of alien scum and real fun to pick up the rpg and point it at something new...

I'm rather excited as well, but more for the novelty than the game itself.

<Edit>the source i posted is given above.
Now i don't feel so good about it after reading this lengthy complaint about the game :
search google for "Duke Nukem Forever barely playable Ars Technica"
(I cannot post the link because of the rules in the forum.)
The reviewer arguments seem correct. No point in blowing 60 now. Might buy the game 2-3 years from now when it becomes cheaper.
Anyone tried the demo ?

I have the game but I'm so busy with work and other stuff that I haven't even unwrapped the cellophane from the box. I'll give you an awesomely blunt review if I could ever get some free time to myself. I just want to blow some stuff up and goof off, maybe shoot a couple of Alien babes.I am not happy that the reviewer said it's very linear. If that's true, it's gonna limit the entire game for me. Getting lost and disoriented in Duke3D was half the fun. Now I am not offended by the "Dukes attitude" towards life in general, the reviewer above seems a bit inhibited.
