Can an employer ask you to show your underwear?

My employer recently started a new policy of no cellphones while on the clock. One of my co-workers left her cell phone on a desk, and our boss saw it, asked who's it was, made her unlock it, and our boss started going through her text messages saying "See, you were texting on the clock" and went through several messages, then made her log onto her Facebook account and did the same thing. She was later suspended 3 days without pay.

I also got word of another story where a female was called into our boss' office (who is also a female). Our boss informed my co-worker that there was a complaint that her thong was visible when she bent over. Our boss than told the employer to bend over so she could see for herself, and for whatever reason, my co-worker did. When the thong "didn't appear" our boss told her to show her thong strap to prove that she was indeed wearing one.

I was just wondering if these recent actions are illegal or if it's just something we're going to have to deal with.

    Hi there,
I'm not too sure the topic is appropriate for a Linux forum but anyhoo, I think you would best be served by contacting a Lawyer. It sounds to me like some rights may have been violated here but that's just my own personal opinion and that's why I say you should contact a Lawyer before making any further posting on the subject, it might become evidence if you ever went to court.
I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
