Treat You to Dinner
IF I would be invited to dinner and my host would say that I can order food up to the limit of US$20? I would be ordering the following:
A big juicy T-bone steak grilled medium rare with some trimmings & 2 bottles of beer. OK i lied, 4 bottles.
I base these on where I live. I kinda wanna know what a 20-buck dinner can buy on your side of the planet.
What can US$20 get you if I would treat you to dinner?
p.s. And some mash potatoes too

It depends upon where you eat. I know places in Chicago where $20 might get you appetizers and a glass of water! Then I know other places around here where $20 will get you a really nice Thai, Chinese, or Mexican dinner with beer/wine/dessert.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

Like rubberman said, depends on the restaurant. Some places $20 wouldn't even buy you 4 bottles of beer, while others $20 would let you stuff yourself.

You can get a darn good meal for $20 around here, steak or no steak, you can spend less for more food even but if you want a really good steak, from a steakhouse...it'll cost you more than $20. for example, you can go to "Golden Coral" (A buffet eatery) they have steaks(and a log more) and the price will be about $12.00 including drink and dessert or you can go to "The Cattlemens" steakhouse and it'll cost you over $20 just for the Steak dinner.
I'd rather pay $20 for the meat at the local butcher and cook it on the BBQ pit myself while getting a slight buzz with a beer or two. I'm a decent cook.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

With US$ 20 = 13,78 euros
That really wouldn't get you much around here. Take-away Chinese or a small pizza. Although I know a place where they serve the most excellent spare-ribs for about ~14 euros. Which is dirt cheap around here. Alas we wouldn't have money left for drinks.
But if we have some time, a three hour drive away we could be dining in some small German gasthof on the most delicious schnitzel, steak or sausage for somewhere between 8 to 11 euros, so we'd still have some money left for a local brew.
But if you want to do it properly, you'd go to a German city like Cologne, sit on a terrace at the market place, order a dish of home made sauerkraut and bratwurst for €5,- and spend the rest of the money on beer. You'd get around five beers for what you'd have left from the $20.
This on the topic of what $20 gets you on this side of the planet. The question that remains is, when do we go?

Last time I went to Vegas. Buffet was $5.00. Drinks were free when gambling. Shrimp Cocktail was $1.00.
20 bucks in my neck of the desert will buy you a very large enchlida plate, rice and beans, caldo soup, with sopas and tortillas and honey and a bucket of 6 dos equis longnecks in ice with money left over for the tip.
OopsL Forgot Chips and Salsa (usually pico de gallo with tomatillos ) also.
