Also, as far as tracking and paranoia goes, I think I trust Google (at least, more than Facebook), lest I would've abandoned Gmail when I first saw the targeted ads on the right-side panel. I'm still convinced that if I need to drop off the grid, I can do so fairly easily.
I agree with everything you have said here. I like it quite a bit more than facebook (not that I used facebook much anyway) but I can see myself using G+ at least a little bit. The circles are a great idea, because I can add all kinds of friends and divide them up and see different feeds.

I use google everything, so why stop now.

Personally I don't car so much about whether I'm tracked or not. I've got pretty much nothing to hide (besides my pin code and paypal password).

As for google+, I've heard of it, and supposedly it's better than facebook or something, but I don't really care. I'm on twitter, facebook and identica, because most people in my environment talk through those media, and if you don't, you just disconnect your self from them, leaving you practically alienated from the entire class.

I personally think twitter is great for keeping track of some interesting news feeds.

I do wonder though why it's only on basis of invitation instead of just saying: Here's the alpha, I know it's buggy but if you report it to us, we'll have it figured out quicker.
(Moyang did the same with minecraft and it seems to work pretty wel).

Google has always used the invitation model for new services, starting with gmail. Google+ is not new in that. There are lots of well-known people on Google+, including the guy who started Facebook, and Linus Torvalds. Young people are very fickle, and they might bail on Facebook if they see many of their peers doing it. With the privacy issues of Facebook, Google might take over the social networking world. Or maybe not. Too early to tell.

So far, I think I like google+ more than facebook. I particularly like the sparks and circles feature and the way they are implemented. As for privacy, I'm not really bothered because I don't tend to share very personal or private information on social networks.
