    hello world

hey, trying to learn linux on my old laptop and I'm having a rough time with the install. I used to use linux just because it was free, now i want to learn the os since i've realized its so much better than windows.

this laptop is acting weird though and I'm stuck with the live cd, if you think you can help check the installation forum. I have a thread there called 'Unable to find boot file after Ubuntu installation'

Depending on how old your laptop is, you may need to go with Lubuntu instead of Ubuntu. Current Ubuntu dosen't do well with less than 1 GB ram, and really needs 2 to shine. Also, several posters have reported difficulty getting 11.04 to install properly, and have gone back to 10.04 or 10.10.
