    Hello and welcome aboard!

Maybe think about creating something that will help Linux users get their wireless setups working, as that still seems to be a major hurdle for many new Linux users.

    I'd second that advise.
Wireless setup, security and networking is a huge field and especially when it comes to Linux.
I'd suggest you to have a look at SourceForge.net: Find, Create, and Publish Open Source software for free to have a general idea about Linux projects.

    Good luck.

Maybe you could look at an open source scrumboard implementation or something, as that's what I'm missing.

There are a lot of cheap netbooks and touchpads coming onto the market with Arm processors installed and Android as an OS. I picked up a netbook for $85 from Newegg, and the hardware seems like it is capable of a lot more than the Android OS will let it do. Don't get me wrong, android is probably awsome for a phone, but it is very limited compared to a netbook. As a project, could you port say Tinycore to the arm architecture?

How about a browser independent bookmark program. One file, that regardless of which browser you are using at the moment, has all your saved bookmarks, and works with Firefox, Opera, Dillo, and all the other linux browsers. Sort of a browser boot loader, that lets you select which browser to open, and keeps a common bookmark file usable in them all.

Maybe take a look at Linux From Scratch as a project and something to teach you about Linux:

    Welcome to Linux From Scratch!

They also offer a number of sub-projects.
