On my newer systems, Ubuntu 10.04, but on the old systems I sometimes resurrect I use either Lubuntu or AntiX. If I have hardware issues on the old stuff, I try Legacy OS, Slitaz, Imagineos, or start down the list of 20 or so live CD's I have for other distro's. With linux, eventually you will find something that works with even proprietary hardware from a manufacturer that only provide windows drivers.

I thought I replied, but don't see it, so will reply again. I run Ubuntu 10.04 on my newer systems, and Lubuntu or AntiX on older hardware. Sometimes with some systems I have to try one of the other 20 or so live CD's I have to find one that runs with a particular piece of unique hardware. That is the beauty of linux, you can usually find at least one distro that will work with a given computer.

    Hi, Masontx,

Would you mind tell me what's your job? In China, Linux is not more popular than Winodws except for software development

I am a jailer, police/fire/ambulance dispatcher, and 911 operator at my full time job, and a part time preacher.

    Hi, Masontx,

I wonder whether linux has been installed in your computer or windows?

Looks like you are quite familiar with linux.

By the way, I found a interesting thing is that emergency number is 911 in USA but it's 119 in China.

Linux only, no dual boot. Like I say, I got started when my windows crashed and had to be reloaded, only the install disk was scratched and wouldn't work. It was cold turkey linux only, no windows, and has been that way ever since. When I get a new computer, or a used one, the first thing I do is wipe the hard drive and install linux. Now if they would just sell blank computers cheaper than ones with windows, it would be perfect.
