    RHCE Certification

    Hi,

This is my first question as I have just joined the Linuxforums group.

I intend to complete my RHCE, is a licensed Red Hat copy compulsory, which distribution is the best to learn Red Hat ?

    Regards.

    Well, RedHat

But if you donīt want to spend the money for a subscription (yet), then CentOS or Scientific Linux are (virtually) identical and free of charge.

    Hello and welcome!

Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Scientific, or CentOS should work just fine for this purpose. I'd go with Scientific or CentOS if it were me.

    One more thing:
You might want to install the linux of your choice into a VM for the learning.
    a) redhat/centos/sl are geared towards server usage, not so much desktop/laptop.
The virtualized hardware just works(tm), so one less thing to worry about.
    b) VM snapshots
    Very handy to avoid reinstalls:
    - "Oops, I rm -rf the wrong directory"
    - go back to previous snapshot
    - Happyness
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
