Contributing in an open source project.
Hi. Me and one of my colleagues are planning to work on the open source project : "glastopf"
We have the required skills to work on it but have no idea how to approach the lead developer/project manager. Actually we would like this to be our final year project because this is what our professor suggested.
So we would like some suggestions on how to approach the lead developer/project manager.
Any reply will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hello and Welcome,
I'd suggest that you fire off an email and ask him if he would like some help. The worse (hopefully) thing that could happen is he would say no.

Sent an email to Lukas Rist. Is it necessary to send our resumes/CVs? because I didnt send them.

That's usually not needed.
Just express your interest in a well-written, articulate fashion. Describe your knowledge level.
He, or another from the dev team, will most likely follow up and find out a little more about you.Jay

If you don't hear back on the email you sent, he offers an IRC channel where he can reportedly be reached as well. If he's there, that would be quicker than email. Check the link provided above by MikeTbob for the channel location.

Yeah... IRC can be like a forum in some regards.
A user may stay logged on, but be away from the computer.
Stick with it, though.
Once they notice your persistant in your interest, I'm sure they will reply.Jay

Another option is to see if they have an open bug tracker, get the code and submit a few bug fixes.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
