No Yahoo Upgrade Then No Yahoo Mail!
Clearly Yahoo has some criteria that it is using to determine which email accounts that it demands to be " Upgraded " because not all of my yahoo accounts are affected. I've lost access to one account and on 8-27-11 I'll lose access to another.
I transferred all of my previous yahoo mail from two accounts to fastmail accounts and yahoo sent a " please verify " email to those accounts which means that they are tracking my email forwarding! Yahoo The Proctologist!!

Don't you see those messages whenever your using a forwarding service, I know every time I've forwarded from one account to another like google to yahoo it's always asked to verify the account, the only time I haven't seen those type of messages is when using a email client......................

I'm equally fed up with Yahoo. I foolishly "upgraded" to their new interface, which was supposed to be much faster (and they said you could always go back to the old one if you preferred it). Actually it's incredibly slow and they've taken away the option of going back.
Yesterday I couldn't even get a pop3 connection from sylpheed, though I could today. There is a story going around that they want to do away with pop3 access except for paying customers, which may explain why they cut it off periodically.
Anyway, I'm migrating to gmail which treats its customers much better."I'm just a little old lady; don't try to dazzle me with jargon!"

I've been with Gmail since the beginning and never had a problem, well once but that was my fault, I lost all my passwords due to a crash (yes even my backup copy's were blank, don't ask I had a brain fart and didn't verily my own stuff) but they do ask if your forwarding a account to verify the account, I believe it's for security and not because they are trying to follow your email around, could you imagine if they didn't ask to verify a account who would have your account info in a matter of seconds .

I've opened three new google email accounts to go along with the Fastmail email accounts suggested by Ozar.
I'm liking Fastmail better every day and even paid subscriptions for three of them. I used my Galeon browser
to check one of my yahoo email accounts yesterday and I was hit in the face with their giant ads that Ad-Block
prevents in my Seamonkey browser. When I am through rearranging everything I am going to put a yahoo rant
on my website that will not be kind!!Linux registered user # 414321

Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK5390260622X
Yale: ok
Leon: Hi! Welcome to our Yahoo! Mail Live Chat service. I'm glad you've joined us.
Leon: Thank you for providing us the details of your issue.
Yale: So what is the deal with using the classic Yahoo mail?
Leon: You have a question about the new version. Correct?
Yale: Yes I do.
Yale: If I decide I want to use the classic Yahoo Mail will I be able to continue to use it or will there be a point in time when My yahoo mail account be discontinued?
Leon: If you use your Yahoo! Mail on classic it will still be changed to the newest mail version, since all emails will be using this version. And your email will not be discontinued.
Yale: So why is it you are asking us if we want to switch if we have no choice in the matter???
Leon: I do apologize if you feel that way. But this is we are trying to give ample time for our Customer to use and be familiar to the newest version of Yahoo! Mail.
Yale: My wife has changed to the new version and she says he hates it.
Leon: Sorry to hear that.
Yale: It would be nice if when a company makes a change it is for the better and not just for the sake of change or to accomidate it's business partners.
Leon: I see. I will take note of that.
Yale: This give me a chance to look at my other options such as AOL, Gmail and others.
Yale: Thank you for your time.
Leon: Sorry to hear that.
Yale: So will your paying advertisers

I have not " Upgraded " and I do not think that yahoo can Upgrade you unless you click on the link
that says that you agree to their new " Terms Of Service " and their new " Privacy Policy "!!
I am not a lawyer but I think that some of those " conditions " are a violation of established law in the U.S.A.Linux registered user # 414321

I may very well be wrong Mike but if that were the case why did yahoo bother to put up the " Upgrade notice " and due date and demand that everyone click the " Upgrade " button? Why would yahoo block access to my email demanding that I click the " Upgrade " button to accept their new terms of service in order to read my email?
I should thank yahoo for getting my dander, my adrenaline, and my testosterone flowing like a youngster and even making me register a new internet domain; resnullius.us ( Res Nullius is Latin for nobody's property )
Yahoo's motto of: your world, your way is actually your world, their way!! Sometime this week everything in my yahoo email accounts, except the one they have already blocked, will be transfered elsewhere!!Linux registered user # 414321

- 08-22-2011 #10To let you know that they are going to Upgrade. And if you don't agree to the new terms, you don't agree to their service... so no email for you....if that were the case why did yahoo bother to put up the " Upgrade notice " and due date and demand that everyone click the " Upgrade " button? Why would yahoo block access to my email demanding that I click the " Upgrade " button to accept their new terms of service in order to read my email?
Most email providers, though, really don't care what you send. Executable files are stopped at the server (reduces the number of viruses you could send). Also, if a legal reason comes up, they can then subpoena your email files from the server... that's all that means.
Honestly, I'm impressed at the attempt to notify their users about the upgrade. Alot of providers just kind of drop it on you.Jay
