    Didn't feel a thing!

I think ( I'm not sure because I seldom am aware of just what time it is when I'm out shopping. ) that I was on an MTA bus when it happened. I first heard about it when I got home and turned on my computer to get the lottery numbers.

A female friend from Boston called because she had seen the news reports with some New York office workers dashing out of their office buildings.

I understand that the bars did a big business. Folks dashed out of their office buildings and straight into the nearest bar. I guess bars don't collapse, but offices do.

I guess it wasn't as huge as the media over here played it. Glad everyone's OK though.

Everyone running for the bar eh? Sounds like a very English response to me -_-

If an Earthquake hit New York City most of the buildings, bridges, etc. would crumble because they were not built to withstand Earthquakes!

I'm concerned about the recent "surge" of earthquakes here in USA where there are typically no earthquakes. We've been having some small earthquakes just about 90 miles south of Fort Worth, Tx. I haven't felt them yet but a lot of people think they are directly related to the recent "surge" of drilling for natural gas and oil.
Is there a lot of drilling happening in the area that was hit?

In the site cousinlucky provided I found several problems with the logic. 1) The author states that the plates are relatively dormant, and that there have been no earthquakes in a generation. Isn't that pretty much the definition of relatively stable? Unlike active zones which have many quakes each year, a relatively stable area would have infrequent quakes seperated by years if not decades. 2) He states that it should have been a deep focus quake 300-700 kilometers. Even at 300 kilometers, that would be about 186 miles deep, which is deeper than the crust is thick. From what I've read, the crust averages 20-25 miles thick under the continents. 3) He goes on to speculate about HAARP earthquake weapons and "manipulating the hurricane". Is this even possible to create earthquakes as weapons, and to manipulate hurricanes?
I can only conclude that the article is not creditable, just another nut running his mouth.
