A lot of good people helped me out when I started and still are, so I figure the least I can do is the same when I can. It's also nice associating with people who may be vastly different to me in some ways but who share at least some of my core beliefs.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I'm happy to help those who help themselves.

I help others because I was helped in the beginning also. Everyone has to start somewhere and Linux is steep learning curve from windows due to the fact that you are in more control of the OS.

I've found lots of help from other people. It's only right to put something back into the community. I can't program or work on the development of the software so I give back what I can by sharing the knowledge I've picked up along the way. I suppose it's a way of saying thank you to the community and to the people who have created the distros I use.
I also try to encourage people who are interested to use Linux OSes and help them get started when I can.

The same reason social networking sites are popular, we love to talk with other linux enthusiasts. LF is not just an information and help site, but a social group where people of like interests gather to discuss their favorite operating system. Along the way we promote that OS by helping new users, and compare methods for solving common problems.

everybody loves to help in many cases, as courses are expensive and being linux build with a free mentality, it would be a pitty to ruin it by not continuing what was started... a world wide comunication network where people all pinch in a lil to make building our favourite distributions possible. I, for myself, just came in LF today. the atmosphere seems good =) and most if not all linux users help eachother, i will as much as i can myself although i recently started a more serious approach to linux.
keep in mind though that to get help, most linux users (that i've read on forums and kinda agree with them) will get a lil pissed if u have a problem and dont provide at least a general situation of what is happening, how you tried to fix it, specs and if you did actually search google, or the godlike, LINUX MANUAL =) heaven forbid, those docs that compose that are simply amazing learnt a lot from the manual while experimenting around. although if you are interested i might have a copy of a lil something you might appreciate if you are interested in gaining a better knowledge of linux, i cant post it unfortunatly because it's propietary -.-
