Internet Service Providers
Just curious, guys...
Are you happy with your current ISP?
Do you usually get the upload/download speeds that you are paying for?
Is the service up and running as much as advertised, or do you find it to be down frequently, or down for long periods of time?
Is the support team friendly and helpful, or do you feel like you are beating your head against the wall when you deal with them?oz

That will sound like a advertisment for them:
My ISP M-net
- is reasonable priced
- offers good speed
- and latency
- their support knows what they are talking about
- their standard procedures are well thought out
- and last but not least, they are pushing forward fibre optic in munich.
Soon I will have 100MBit/s for roughly the same price as my 18MBit/s now.
So yes: Quite happyYou must always face the curtain with a bow.

I really do wish my provider (CenturyLink) were so good!
The service used to be down frequently, but that's not so much the problem these days as are the constant speed fluctuations. Quite often, I get no more than 40-50% of the speed being paid for. They've reduced my billing a few times for that reason but I don't want to have to complain every month just to get the price reduced. The tech support by phone was less than desirable as well. I keep hoping something better will make itself available in my local area but so far it's not happening.
I'd love to get speeds anywhere near your current speeds, but that upcoming speed looks even better!

Zen Internet
Good Speed which is advertised as up to 8MB but I get a better speed than their estimate (~4Mb vs ~2.5Mb)
I have no idea what their support is like as it has never been needed.Last edited by elija; 09-10-2011 at 09:13 PM.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Insight Communications in this part of Kentucky.
A 20 Mb connection (pay attention there... Mb, not MB).
And it's consistent, no real down time. So I'm happy with it.
Time-Warner just bought them out, though. So I'm hoping nothing changes.Jay

I have Verizon, and don't have down time issues, but the speed is less than what some of you report. I normally get between 300 and 400 kbs, but at peak times it drops to as low as 80 kbs. Just got my mother-in-law on Verizon on some very old house phone wiring, and she gets 50-80 kbs, dropping to 30-50 at peak times. Have never used tech support, so can't comment.

Anything that Time Warner touches it does not take the long before they " gouge " their customers.
Time Warner has a monopoly upon Staten Island and their prices are very high. If you drive around
Staten Island almost every private home has one or more satellite dishes on the roof.
I am forced to use dial up and I do so with copper.net. A couple of times over the years I had a
problem with one of their access phone numbers but I just used another number till it got fixed.Linux registered user # 414321

I can say I am happy with my provider.
I am currently paying for 10MB down/1MB up.Do you usually get the upload/download speeds that you are paying for?
Only outage I have had was due to power so I cannot fault the provider for that.Is the service up and running as much as advertised, or do you find it to be down frequently, or down for long periods of time?
Now I have a UPS system.
Good question. I have called twice to my provider and both times I got VM.Is the support team friendly and helpful, or do you feel like you are beating your head against the wall when you deal with them?
My provide is priced about right. Below is a speed test I done semi local to me.

Another test across the country.
