Bodhi Linux looks like the CRUX of Ubuntu.

I've loved CRUX for years because it gave me a very minimal install from which to build a system that is suited exactly to my needs. This seems to be the same philosophy behing Bodhi Linux, another Ubuntu oddshoot but without a zillion apps pre-installed. Since I recently moved from CRUX to Linux Mint on my home computer, Bodhi Linux sounds like one I need to seriously check out. Have any of you tried it?

EDIT: Downloading the .iso now. It's only 369 MB!

I haven't tried it yet, but I did see it highlighted on DistroWatch recently.
I have to admit, when I saw Ubuntu-based I didn't really read any deeper, as there are so many out there already.

That looks interesting considering that it uses Enlightenment.

With the given name, I thought that it might be a foreign distribution, but it is USA based according to their page at DistroWatch. Looks like it comes in 32-bit only, at the present time.

Linux Format magazine gave it good reviews. Personally, I never really got on with Enlightenment; too much of a heathen I guess

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

It's been years since I last tried Enlightenment, but I've been wanting to give it another go to see how it's coming along. Probably won't ever get around to it, though, unless I install a distro that comes with it by default.

I've been using it on an old laptop for a while. It works OK. I'm getting used to Enlightenment now and the whole thing is quite configurable. The only thing I've not really got the hang of so far is Run Everything.

    Tempted by Bodhi

I'm very tempted to install Bodhi Linux. Everything I have read about it makes me say "mmm!"

The problem is that my hard drive isn't big enough for more than two OS's (and I doubt if I would have time to run more than 2) so I would have to sacrifice Debian. Has anyone here used Bodhi? What did you think of it? I've read some rave reviews.

Funny you should post that. I'm actually downloading it now to try on a VM as I guess I've read the same reviews and had my curiosity piqued. I don't know if I'll get on with it that well as I never really clicked with Enlightenment.

    But I have to know

It is really fast. I installed it on a VM with 1GB RAM, direct access to the 3D card and a 20GB hard disk. After post it boots to a login prompt in about 5 seconds. I have only installed a couple of bits of software on it, the main one being LibreOffice. Writer starts in an almost unbelievable 2 seconds from cold.

Software is installed from the website which actually works very well. I feel a blog post coming on....

[edit]Having said that, Flash just failed to install although some people might consider that a plus [/edit]

You will either love it or hate it. I personally hate it.
