    Hello people,
    I came here for a precise hardware problem I've been banging my head with during two weeks, but I knew from some time that I will end up here. I am still under windows due to habits and some proprietary scientific and video software, but I am planning to move to linux - at least as dual boot - as soon as I receive my new laptop, as my old one died recently. I also wanted to follow a path that could lead me to understand better any kind of computer stuff and problems, in other words "acquire the geek general culture and knowledge database", and I know working with linux and its different distributions is a good help for that. But still, I know I will always find problems I cannot solve, which is why...I ultimately came here. So, hoping to hear of you guys, and hoping to be able to help some of you in the - distant - future where I will start to know enough to do so...
