    Hmm, I missed this response. Only thing I can say at this point: If you had started installing it when you posted this, you might have a solid working Gentoo system in place by now.

    Redhat Is a great choice anyhow. It's what I cut my teeth on way back when it was free.

    There aren't a lot of votes in the poll, but according to the votes thus far, Debian, Gentoo, and the Red Hat derivatives are running away with it since no votes whatsoever have come for any of the other options.

    If I were running a server, it would definitely be using Debian or one of the Red Hats (voted for this one), although I might try playing around with Arch for that purpose since I'm already far more familiar with it.
