I'm just glad that I'm not the only one still using a VCR!

    Just finished watching Pan's Labyrinth:

    Pan's Labyrinth (2006) - IMDb

This turned out to be a really good movie, but it might be a bit too frightening for very young children. I'd recommend watching this one in the default Spanish language and enabling English sub-titles if you don't speak Spanish. I'd give this movie at least an 8 out of 10 score.

    Paul

Just finished watching Paul, a sci-fi comedy by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost:

    Paul (2011) - IMDb

The movie starts off funny, but just keeps getting funnier as it moves forward. If you are a fan of their stuff, this is a must have.

    Highly recommended!

Last night, we watched "The Flight Of The Phoenix," the 1965 version with James Stewart, Richard Attenborough, Peter Finch and Ernest Borgnine.

I saw this film when it first came out and remembered I really liked it. I've been meaning to watch it again for quite some time. I'm glad I did as it is a fantastic film... perfectly constructed. Lots of conflict between the characters, yet each knows they will have to compromise something important if they are to have even the slimmest of chances to survive the very grave circumstances they find themselves in.

I really think this is among the best films I've ever seen. I highly recommend it and give it four and a half out of five stars.

Yes, definitely a great movie! The remake from a few years back is okay, but not as good as the original, although the plane crash in the newer version is quite good.

Just thought of another one that some of you might like:

    The Condemned (2007) - IMDb

Steve Austin has the lead role, and there is quite a bit of action. Probably worth at least a rental or borrow.

    Walk the Line
My granny loved Johnny Cash. My wife loves Johnny Cash. I love Johnny Cash!
Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon did the singing in this film... and they did a damn good job!

    ...
    EDIT...
I'm listening to Joaquin and Reese.
Compared to Johnny and June... not too dang bad!
