I for one, welcome our new Disney overlords, they are strong in the force (which is to say they know how to hire competent writers and directors).
I'm watching The Two Towers right now (finished FOTR this a.m.), getting pumped for The Hobbit in a couple hours...!

Looking forward to hearing what you thought of it!

The LOTR trilogy films are among my all-time favorites, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing The Hobbit movies, too, but will most likely wait for the blu-ray releases because it's an 80 mile round trip to the nearest cinema for me, plus I really prefer seeing them from home anyway. My guess is that they will be very good, but not really a match for the LOTR films.oz

whoa, that's a haul. now i understand your penchant for blue-ray!
IMO, your prediction is correct. But a loftier goal (that of rivaling the LOTR flicks) would be hard to imagine. I won't say much for now, plus it probably deserves a 2nd viewing, but the scenes with Gollum were top-notch (equal parts gruesomeness, pity, and hilarity). And the dwarves are great characters (I personally most like Bofur, partly b/c of his hat and partly b/c he looks a lot like Dave Grohl). My guess is that they will be very good, but not really a match for the LOTR films.

So I opted for old school frame rate. I will probably go for the HFR upon my 2nd viewing.
