It was ubuntu 9.04 aka Jaunty Jackalope; most rudimentary knowledge of Sun Unix prior to that, for their workstations.
Am now using Bodhi 2.1.0 and enjoying the e17 desktop, even though it crashes occassionally.

My first distro was Ubuntu 11.1. I really liked that and, and tried many others, but think I will stay with Ubuntu for a while. Right now, on my new build computer, I might be going with Ubuntu Studio. I'm really liking the Xfce desktop environment.

My first was Red Hat back around 1995 or 1996. Used it until 98 or so and moved to Mandrake (now Mandriva). Used it for a bit and also used SuSE for a while. Distro hopped until 2003 or so and jumped into Gentoo. Haven't looked back since.

I usually end up getting them at least interested when they see my Fedora install on my laptop.

My first distro was Slackware. I've been using GNU/Linux for over 10 years now and Slackware is still my preference. I just recently put Slackware64 14.0 on my laptop and I'm very happy with the speed and stability of it.
