Oh, and I REALLY like your quote, Rubberman. Good words to live by!
That comes from my background in real real-time systems development... IE, miss a deadline and the ship sinks, the plane falls out of the sky, or the nuclear power plant blows up!

Oh, you mean "always be flexible"? That too...
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!

it is boink. i took some poetic license there. far be it from me to correct the immortal Watterson, but as long as I was already changing it, "bonk" is funnier to me!

Well, they go hand in hand, if the ship sinks, use life-boats. If a plane starts to fall, use parachutes. If a nuclear plant blows up, start handing out Iodine pills and book the first flight upwind!

You know... I think you're right haha

C&H - definitely one of my all time favorite comic strips!

yep, agreed. My Desert Island Comic Strip collection would be C&H, The Far Side, and Peanuts (more for sentimental reasons than belly laughs).

    Hey guys

I've been learning Linux for a while now. It took a while but starting to see the raw power it has to offer. With a name like "linuxforums", this seemed to be the obvious place to make my home

Boink - when you fall and hit your head on the table/floor, or you realize you just did something really stupid, and whack your head on the table.
Bonk - when someone else whacks your head with a board, usually for doing something really stupid.

Note the consistency of the "doing something really stupid" theme?

So, when my wife whacks me upside the head for doing something really stupid, that is a bonk!
When I whack my head on the desk/table when I realize I did something really stupid, that is a boink!
    Two very different things...
