Hello from a Newbie!!!
Hi all,
Just introducing myself to this forum. I have only just come to Linux despite being 'cajoled' by friends for several years.
I have Ubuntu 11.? which I installed on an old 2005 Windows XP Desktop PC to give it some more life rather than sending it to the tip!! I have downloaded the 12.10 version but have yet to install it.
My background is in Unix & OS9 (from the Dragon days) and I took an HNC in computer studies in 1987? 'ish, which I enjoyed but realised I would never make a programmer.
I enjoyed 'tinkering' with my old Dragon and even built my own RS232 Interface and HDD controller too. In those days a 20Mb Hard Drive cost about £200?
After that I 'upgraded' to an Atari ST and got involved in Midi and music production.
Anyway, in my senior years I am more of a 'user' and have stuck with windows for the last mmmmm years! I am still into music production and am currently building myself a decent PC which will be used as my music platform.
I am looking forward to being involved in this forum and learning a lot more about Linux & Ubuntu in particular.
All the best
Gary
