Well, it would seem that you have your mind made up. Asymmetry favors downstream data flow, while symmetry maintains equal upstream and downstream speeds. Also keep in mind $$. Asymmetry does not cost as much as symmetry dsl does. Im going to leave it at the fact; use only what you need plus a little more and save as much as you can.

ADSL generally scale from $40 to $200/SDSL ranges from $170 to $450. It all depends on needs.

sdsl in greece has 120 euro for the equipment (CPG ,router and ups) and 55 euro/month for 384kbps.....isn't that good?

The price/speed ratio of ADSL is far more better in The Netherlands. SDSL comes with service level for a business and you have to pay for that too. An uncapped ADSL line (8 mb/1 mb) will cost about € 65 a month here

Really? I don't have those prices.... I'm on an SDSL connection at home, and we pay about $40 total (DSL line + ISP service). It's a 1.5Mbit line, so I get 160KB/s down and 160KB/s up. The only downside is that the ISP caps total throughput to 20GB per month
The modem the ISP gave us has Busybox (embedded Linux) on it and an html config utility, so that's fun.

Ooh ooh!!!

I voted cable. Although it's not the best in the world, 6MB/s downstream and 512KB/s up is okay for me. Oh wait...cable wasn't an option.
