    Howdy From Maine

    Hey all..

I forst got my mitts on linux when I somehow(I forget now) got a 5 cd set of slackware...

Never really did tons with linux, but now I'm IT Manager for a company, and am putzing with Debian with the idea of using linux for system monitoring, and possibly housing a helpdesk app..

    Cheers!
    Rich

    howdy, celtic! nice sword.

i bet it is butt-a$$ cold where you are right now.

you are on the right track looking at Linux for system (and network) monitoring. Two of the most popular solutions in Linux for doing that are Xymon and Nagios. There are many others (most if not all of which are free).
