Ahh well I'm just trying to find out which distro is for me I don't know if the laptop I purchase matters but If it helps I really don't live at any particular home I go everywhere I'm needed so I can't really consider a desktop due to the fact that I don't stay at 1 place for long

It seems confusion about terminology is troubling you. A Desktop Environment is not a desktop. Netbooks may require special distros, laptops do not.
A WM (Windows Manager) does not require or necessarily apply to the Windows OS. A WM is not a DE, but DEs have WMs within them in many cases.
